There are no plans for JavaFX to support Solaris at this point.
There are many reasons behind this decision, but I'll list the key ones:
1. JavaFX is a client technology, and there is very little reason to use it in a server environment. In the three years since we've started shipping JavaFX, we've had almost no requests for Solaris support.
2. The incremental effort to support Solaris on SPARC and x86 is disproportionate to the potential market penetration. We'd rather focus on having a rock solid, full-featured solution on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, which is essential to establish JavaFX as a key contender in the RIA space.
3. We are in the process of open sourcing JavaFX (
http://openjdk.java.net/projects/openjfx/). This will give anybody the opportunity to port the platform to other environments, without putting all the burden on Oracle
Now, if you are concerned about a mission-critical solution involving JavaFX on Solaris, we'll always be interested to hear about it. You can contact me at javafx4you at sun dot com
