Bonjour,

je dois installer la librairie graphique QT4 sur un CentOs, sauf que je peu installer uncun paquet mon système ne connais pas la commande "yum".
Il me renvoie un bash command.

Es-tu en root avec les bonnes variables d'environnement ? (yum n'est peut être pas dans ton PATH dans le cas contraire).

En faite je pense que le paquet n'est pas présent et donc ne peut s'installer

tous les lien avec "wget" ne marchent pas

existe t-il une autre façon d'installer un paquet?

avant de chercher , serai bon de savoir si yum est installe

whereis yum

la reponse doit etre

whereis yum
yum: /usr/bin/yum /etc/yum /etc/yum.conf /usr/share/man/man8/yum.8.gz

centos peut utiliser apt

Avec la commande rpm pour les packages rpm mais ça ne gère pas les dépendances ... Sinon en recompilant le contenu d'archives .tar.gz etc

Bref, l'idéal c'est que yum soit installé (ce qui devrait normalement être le cas sous une CentOS 5). Essayes de faire un whereis comme te l'a indiqué jeanbi.

si le whereis ne répond rien c'est que yum n'"est pas présent.
donc faut pas chercher plus loin...

faut le mettre en place, ou utiliser rpm de façon classique et manuelle
pour ce qui concerne les dépendances.

en faite j'ai essayé pas mal de chose pour mettre en place yum sur mon centos mais ça n'a pas marché.

je souhaite avoir une procédure efficace qui marcherait à tous les coups

2. I don't have yum on my CentOS installation

If yum is not installed and working, it is not CentOS. If you have a installation 'based on' or 'derived from' CentOS, but yum is missing, you don't have a real CentOS installation. It is not really possible for non-developers to install CentOS without installing yum.

Several VPS (Virtual Server) providers and some downstream forks of CentOS and its management tools (think: OpenVZ, cPanel, Plesk, webmin, Direct Admin, BlueQuartz, Asterisk, Trixbox, Elastix) seem to install only parts of CentOS on their virtual servers. Some then also remove yum from the installation, or alter the settings of the yum configurations. Some 'manage' the box outside of the package management system. See also the Other Voices page for a list of more fork tines, derived in whole or in part from CentOS.

Why they do it is unclear. Maybe they try to make it harder for you to overwrite their kernel. Perhaps they do it from ignorance or sloth. The CentOS view of this is that such an approach is ill-considered. yum has mechanisms to protect specific packages from change. Perhaps, they cannot figure out how to read: man yum for the 'exclude' option; or perhaps they want to avoid support calls and are willing to sell a system which cannot be updated with facility. The second way, when the machine gets compromised though some newly emerged exploit which they prevented patching away, they can charge you for a full reinstall or restore from backups.

Before you try anything: Please STOP, and ask your VPS provider why they removed yum and how you are supposed to keep your system up to date without yum. This article makes some assumptions, such that simply blindly following advice below might break your system if there is more than just the kernel package which has to be protected!

OVH

j'utilise effectivement un VPS d'un provider et je commence à pensé que c'est un centos modifié.

Si je dois comprendre c'est compliqué d'installer dans ces conditions yum sans passé par mon provider?

Le mieux serait de contacter le support de ton provider et de lui demander quel gestionnaire de package est installé sur les vps.

en même temps c'est normal si tu utilises ton navigateur tu as une erreur 404 aussi, cette version est déconseillée dixit http://mirror.centos.org/centos-4/4.6/readme
