PXE / Boot Server

Salut à tous.

J'ai suivi ce didacticiel :

afin de transformer une raspberry Pi 4B / 8GB en un serveur boot réseau.
J'ai fait le test aussi bien avec une raspberry Pi 3B+ et une raspberry Pi 4B / 8GB et tout fonctionne parfaitement.

Je me suis dit que si j'ai deux raspberry, chacun devrait avoir son propre environnement. Je change l'arborescence qui devient :

--> /PXE/TFTP :
---->boot_01
---->boot_02

--> /PXE/NFS :
----> client_01
----> client_02

Autrement dit, deux environnements pour deux raspberry différentes dont l'une est la raspberry Pi 3B+ et l'autre la raspberry Pi 4B / 8GB.
J'ai bien sûr testé séparément chaque environnement en partant du fichier dnsmasq.conf suivant :

J'aimerai savoir comment sélectionner le répertoire boot selon le numéro de la raspberry, voire son adresse MAC.
J'ai cherché sur le net, mais je n'ai rien trouvé de concluant.

J'ai une incertitude quant à savoir quel programme doit faire la distinction. Vous ne montrez que vos options pour dns-masq, mais il est possible d'utiliser le bootloader (préférablement iPXE, qui est plus évolué) pour faire la distinction que vous souhaitez faire.
Pour dns-masq, la piste que je vois est d'utiliser les options, comme on en a un exemple ici : https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dnsmasq#PXE_server . Cela permet d'envoyer un bootloader suivant l'architecture. Mais il est possible qu'il y ait d'autre flag, pour effectuer ce que vous souhaitez faire.

Ici, la liste des commandes de iPXE : https://ipxe.org/cmd . Il y a des commandes pour gérer des conditions. Il est peut être possible de choper l'adresse MAC et de charger le système adéquat suivant cette info.

Comme je l'ai dit, j'ai repris le didacticiel de la fondation pour créer un serveur boot réseau (PXE / Boot Server).
J'ai fait des recherches dans le net, pour trouver des pistes afin d'avoir un environnement qui soit propre à chaque raspberry que je vais utiliser.
Pour mes tests, j'utilise la RPi 3B+ et la RPi 4B / 8GB. Pour faire la distinction, j'ai le choix entre l'adresse MAC ou le "serial number".

Dans ce document, il est dit que le premier accès se fait à partir du fichier : "[serial_number]/start.elf".
J'ai essayé mais sans succès.

Du coup, aujourd'hui même, j'ai repris mes tests en étant reposé et en ayant les idées un peu plus clairs.

J'ai commis deux erreurs :
a) dans le fichier dnsmasq.conf, à la ligne "tftp-root=/pxe/tftp/boot_01", j'ai laissé "/boot_01" alors que j'aurai du le supprimer afin de mettre "tftp-root=/pxe/tftp".
b) dans le répertoire "/pxe/tftp", j'ai remplacé le nom "boot_01" par "1000000055ae1fb7" alors que j'aurai dû mettre que les huits derniers chiffres "55ae1fb7".

Et bien entendu, ne pas oublier de modifier :

c) remplacer "/pxe/nfs/client_01" par "/pxe/nfs/55ae1fb7", afin d'avoir le même "serial number".
d) modifier le fichier "/pxe/tftp/55ae1fb7/cmdline.txt" afin de faire apparaitre le bon chemin qui est "/pxe/nfs/55ae1fb7".
e) modifier le fichier "/etc/exports" afin de remplacer "boot_01" et "client_01" par "55ae1fb7" dans les cas.

Après plusieurs tentatives infructueuses, j'ai enfin réussi à démarrer ma raspberry pi 4B / 8GB cliente :

Comme on peut le voir, ma raspberry cliente s'est identifié avec son "serial number" qui est bien "55ae1fb7".

Il me reste à faire le même test avec ma raspberry pi 3B+.
Après le test de démarrage, il semblerait que la RPi 3B+ ne fonctionne pas comme la RPi 4B / 8GB.

Mais après quelques tests, je découvre qu'en fait, il utilise bien le "serial number".
La différence avec la Rpi 4B / 8GB est que dans le répertoire racine "/pxe/tftp", je suis obligé de mettre "bootcode.bin" (ligne en rouge ci-dessus).

Ca fonctionne correctement pour les raspberry.
J'ai bien un environnement propre à chaque raspberry que j'utilise.
Il faut identifier le "serial number" comme indiqué dans le didacticiel.

Ce dont tu me parles, et que je ne connais pas, concerne le démarrage réseau par architecture.
Dans mon cas, j'ai toujours la même architecture.
Je suppose que cela ne correspond pas à ce que je cherche à faire.

Les explications que j'ai trouvées, n'étaient pas très claires sur le net.
Maintenant que mon problème est résolu, je ne sais pas trop ce que je peux faire comme amélioration.

Il n'est pas évident quand on ne sait pas ce qu'il faut faire, de trouver une solution.
