Very Large Memory

Bonjour à tous,

J'essaye d'installer ceci pour avoir une SGA>1,7 G, mais j'obtiens des erreurs.
donc pour commencer
oracle 9.2.0.5 sur un red hat AS avec 4Go de RAM.

J'ai suivi toutes les specs orcle, c'est à dire:

init.ora => .use_indirect_data_buffers=true
mount /dev/shm

et au startup, je me prend :

Comment utiliser le use_indirect_data_buffers sans utiliser db_cache size?

Quelqu'un à déjà vu cela?

Using VLM and Oracle 9.2 and db_cache_size parameter

We have to use the very large memory setting on a server and we know that we can't use the db_cache_size parameter.
How can we eliminate the db_cache_size from the init.ora ?
How can we add the db_block_buffers in the init.ora ?
Are there any specific notes o bugs fro VLM and oracle 9.2.1.1 ?

As per Note: 225349.1 - Implementing Address Windowing Extensions (AWE) or VLM on Windows Platforms:

The 9.2 feature allowing for Multiple block sizes in a database will be disabled if you set USE_INDIRECT_DATA_BUFFERS=TRUE, and you cannot specify the DB_CACHE_SIZE parameter to define the size of the buffer cache.

On 9.2, if you attempt to startup a database with this combination of parameters:

USE_INDIRECT_DATA_BUFFERS=TRUE
DB_CACHE_SIZE=xxxxx (Any number)

The startup will fail with the following error:


SQL> startup
ORA-00385: cannot enable Very Large Memory with new buffer cache
parameters

You must change DB_CACHE_SIZE to use DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS instead, as was the syntax under Oracle8i and earlier.

Note: 30704.1 - Init.ora Parameter "DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS" Reference Note

Initialization parameters are eliminated and added in the text file, INITsid.ORA file.

Shutdown the database. Modify the INITsid.ORA file. Remove or comment out the DB_CACHE_SIZE parameter by including the '#' symbol in the first column of the row. To add the DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS parameter in the INITsid.ORA file, add teh DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS=<value> line in the INITsid.ORA file.

Startup the database with this modified INITsid.ORA file.
