[C#]Comment formater les retours chariots dans un datalist

bonjour

lors du remplissage de mon datalist je procede de cette facon avec un label.
DescriptionFR est un champs text de ma bdd
<asp:Label ID="lbl8" runat="server" Text='<%# RetourChariot(Eval("DescriptionFR")) %>'></asp:Label></td>

Afin de formater mon champ avec les retour chariot j'applique cette methode

protected String RetourChariot(String text)
{
if (text != null) text.Replace("\r\n", <br>");
return text;
}

ba le probleme c'est que sa formate que dale
j'ai essayer plusieurs methodes et toujour meme probleme.
