1) Problem Summary: Opening an IBM iSeries Access for Windows PC5250 emulation session fails with the following message: CWBLM0031 - The host server returned a data conversion error. The following contains more information, depending on the rc2 number displayed in the error message you received: rc2 = 21; Invalid product ID.
Resolution: The IBM OS/400 user profile that was being used to sign on had the QSYS2 library in the initial library list of its job description. The QSYS2 library was also in the system portion of the library list according to system value QSYSLIBL. It is against Work Management rules for a library to be duplicated in the user portion and system portion of the library list. This is what was causing the iSeries Access for Windows License Management error.
2) Problem Summary: Why do I receive message CWBLM0031 when I attempt to sign on a PC5250 emulation session?
Resolution: The QZSCSRVS job logs have the message CPFA0A9 - Object not found. The object is /same.
The Integrated File System directory /same does not exist. This directory is listed as the locale parameter in the user profile. To resolve the problem, change the locale parameter in the user profile to *SYSVAL.
3) Problem Summary: iSeries Access for Windows connections fail to the iSeries with error message CWBLM0031 RC 2-21.
Resolution: Checked the QZSCSRVS joblogs and found that the job description the user profile was trying to connect to did not exist. As soon as the job description was changed to the default, the connection was successful.
